2 Massachusetts Fishing Charters Are Among The Best In The U.S.
If you are looking for fishing excursions in Massachusetts this summer you’re in luck. USA Today’s 10BEST recently analyzed this subject in-depth, highlighting the best adventures throughout the country. In the category of charter fishing tours, two different Bay State adventures made the list.
For some people, a vacation does not mean lounging on a chair with a drink all day (although that does sound great). Many travelers are also seeking a thrill or outdoor adventure tours to navigate and take in their destination in a way that is both unique and provides some exercise.
Regardless of the type of adventure tour one decides to pursue, each of them has a few characteristics in common. The most obvious is that it allows the guest to see the outdoor environment of this area or region from a different perspective. That means literally being in the middle of nature or sometimes soaring above it and taking it in from a bird’s eye view.
A tour guide generally has a deep knowledge of the local area and its history. He or she may point out a simple tree, for example, that you may not have noticed. Perhaps the tree represents that native land or was planted 500 years ago. Tour guides are also great resources for learning about additional area highlights like restaurants.
Lastly, participating in an adventure tour does not mean you will give up time to rest and relax. Many of these take up the bulk of a day, but you can certainly build around it in order to make sure you get the full vacation experience.
Fishing Excursions In Massachusetts You Need To Know About
Let’s start with one that would be the least expected. That’s because it is based out of the city. Fishbucket Sport Fishing is a Boston-based adventure. This is a 32-foot charter out of the harbor.
“For novice fishers, a jaunt along Boston Harbor provides ample insight into the sport, while more experienced anglers can go all-in on an offshore trip to search for massive tuna and even sharks,” 10BEST says.
The boat allows for six guests, and their offshore trips are meant for up to four anglers.
Next, we will head out of the city, down Route 3 South, head over the bridge and drive down the cape to almost the end the road. Ranked number seven is Reel Deal Fishing Charters out of Truro.
Reel Deal has three different charter boat options. One of them is a 33-foot, and the other two are 26 feet. “The majority of our trips leave out of Pamet Harbor in Truro, conveniently located between Provincetown and Wellfleet. This location offers quick access to the best fishing grounds of outer Cape Cod,” Reel Deel Fishing says.
You are most likely to catch stripers, blues, and bluefin tuna here. If you hit it right in June, you may be lucky to catch flounder as well.
New England: 4 Of The Best Places For A Weekend Getaway
Wellfleet, Cape Cod
Cape Cod is an obvious location. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day weekend, there is perhaps no place that is more popular in Massachusetts. To me, it’s about finding that specific corner of Cape Cod that is right for you. You can camp or find cottages along Cahoon Hallow Road that will enable amazing trips to the beach. Trekking those sand dunes, hitting the three-foot waves (yes, sometimes there are shark warnings), and then getting food at the Beachcomber while listening to the great live music, is my perfect day.
North Conway, New Hampshire
There is never a bad time to visit this charming town. You can ski Cranmore in the winter. Hike, hit the waterfalls, or visit Storyland in the summer. Either way, you will be graced with some amazing local restaurants. In fact, North Conway flies under the radar as one of the best pizza towns in New England. The hotels like Eastern Slope in accommodate any season, and are right in the middle of town where all the bars, restaurants and stores are. This weekend getaway is probably the least “quiet” but has the most amount of options at your fingertips.

Woodstock, Vermont
The river that runs through Woodstock has a way of speaking to you. It’s serene but can also provide a thrill of pushing you down stream. It’s calming to provide that fresh water cleanse to rid yourself of all that comes with the lights on the city. Lastly, the various rope swings scattered around the town provide a liberating rush. From the climb up the rocks to the swing, to the plunge, you focus on nothing but the joy of that ride. Ramunto’s Brick Oven and Brews is also an essential stop upon each visit.

Sebago Lake, Maine
Lake life just hits differently. Depending upon where you go around Lake Sebago you get the feeling that nowhere else on the planet exists while you there. Frye Island has the magic of no public cars, local watering holes, and the ability to bike incredible dirt roads. There’s a history there to learn about and local taps to enjoy. It’s common to see jet skiing or pontoon boating anywhere you look within the glistening waters. Furthermore, certain towns offer that one and only general store that has everything you can imagine, from household cleaning supplies to steaks to grill for dinner.
