All She Wrote Books Presents The Gayest Scholastic Book Fair For Grown Ups
All She Wrote Books In Somerville is one of my favorite book stores ever. Owner and founder Christina Pascucci Ciampa is an incredible human and I just adore our conversations any time I visit the store. The queer-owned, woman-owned book store is hosting a special event for Pride Month that you don’t want to miss. It’s described as “the gayest Scholastic Book Fair for grown ups.”
What Is All She Wrote Books?
“All She Wrote Books is an intersectional, inclusive feminist and queer bookstore that supports, celebrates, and amplifies underrepresented voices through our thoughtfully curated selection of books spanning across all genres.” (ASWB)
Having visited the store many times, I would also say that it’s more than just a book store. It’s a wonderful space for everyone, especially underrepresented people and authors to not only be seen, but celebrated. I am truly impressed by what Christina has created. Now celebrating its 5th year, All She Wrote Books continues to thrive and serve the community.
The Gayest Scholastic Book Fair For Grown Ups
Remember those awesome Scholastic Book Fairs you went to as a child? Well, All She Wrote Books is bringing their version, which is grown and gay.
“We are so excited gayest book fair ever! Let’s end Pride Month on a fabulous note, shall we?” – Christina
“It’s not going to be your typical book fair – you’re going to see probably the most gay books you’ve ever seen in one place, aside from our bookstore – but we’re still going to have all the nostalgic stuff like the tote bags and the pencil cases and the pencils.” – Christina
The event will take place on Saturday, June 29th at Connexion, a faith-base community center located at 149 Broadway in Somerville. The book fair will have activities during the day and at night. The daytime event (10am – 2pm) is for all ages, and the night event (8pm – 10pm) is 18+.
The daytime event will have special storytimes with local drag performer, resources from the ACLU of Massachusetts, BAGLY, and LGBTQIA+ items from Crafty Queer Studio.
The nighttime party will have books for sale, music, performances, and vendors. And if you get hungry, there will be nostalgic snacks provided by Ritcey East. There will also be exclusive 5-Year Anniversary merch, and Fenway Health will be there to provide health-related info as well. Plus, you won’t want to miss the coloring book station!
