Boston teen crochets her own prom dress. Sarah Akinbuwa was featured in People Magazine last week after a video she posted on TikTok generated over 26.3 million views on TikTok. Sarah loves to crochet and told People exclusively that she was invited to another prom but was told she only had a few days to get her dress. Her experience with crocheting gave her an advantage and Sarah went to work. Her inspiration was a dress that acress Zendaya wore at the 2023 SAG Awards.

Zendaya's dress was designed by Valentino Haute Couture. Harper's Bazaar described the dress as: "a strapless pale pink Valentino gown with a corseted bodice. Life-sized rosettes in a matching pink hue decorated the gown from the waist to the dramatic train." Sarah used this dress as her inspiration and crocheted her own floor length dress for just $60. It took her three days to make it and she even made her own bag to go with it.

She's received several thousands more TikTok followers due to her viral video. Some comments from users include "The special thing about it is it's you who made it." "I am in awe of you." Others are asking if they can donate and others are asking Sarah to make custom orders for them. Either way, this Boston teenager is becoming a lot more popular lately and it's all thanks to a last minute prom date.

Madame Tussauds London unveiled a new wax figure of Zendaya this week, prompting many Twitter users to point out that it doesn't look much like her. Zendaya's figure is inspired by her bright pink suit that she first wore at the Humane Society of the United States' To The Rescue Gala back in 2016.
