5 Interesting Facts About Social Media As We Celebrate Social Media Day
There are some really interesting facts about social media that you may or may not know. Today we celebrate Social Media Day to recognize the global impact, and to celebrate the connections that social media can create.
The History Of Social Media Day
World Social Media Day is celebrated each year on June 30th. The day was launched by Mashable on June 30, 2010. It was created “as a way to recognize social media’s impact on global communication and to bring the world together to celebrate it.” (National Today) Mashable uses social media to connect different cultures, movements, and fandoms, and that is why they decided to create a day to celebrate it. The hashtag #SMDay is used each year on Social Media Day so that we can all participate in the day.
