2 Outstanding Kdramas Guaranteed To Get You Hooked, That Aren’t Squid Game
Outstanding Kdramas. There are a lot of them out there, and I want to introduce you to 2 that I recently watched. If you’re even mildly interested in finding out what the big deal is about kdramas, I promise you, if you watch one of these, you will definitely get hooked. And pretty soon you’ll be into Kpop, and taking Korean language lessons. Or maybe that’s just me.
What are Kdramas?
If you’re not watching K-dramas (Korean dramas), what are you doing with your life? Even if you haven’t watched on, I’m sure you’ve at least heard of Squid Game. Squid Game revolves around a secret contest where 456 players, all of whom are in deep financial hardship, risk their lives to play a series of deadly children’s games or the chance to win a ₩45.6 billion prize.
It was a massive hit for Netflix with an unbelievable 1.65 billion hours streamed. Netflix also said that Squid Game’s popularity was a result of the platform’s “binge-watching model” where subscribers can watch the whole season in one sitting. Kdramas are so popular, that Netflix announced that they will be investing over $2 billion dollars in them. There are a lot of outstanding Kdramas out there, and I want to introduce you to two.
Outstanding Kdramas: Queen of Tears On Netflix
Queen of Tears is one of my favorite Kdramas of 2024. I literally became the title of the show after watching it. I swear I cried just about every episode. If you like romance, comedy, suspense, and twists, this is the Kdrama for you. Perfectly cast from top to bottom.
To give you a hint at how popular it is, it became the highest rated TVN drama of all time, dethroning Crash Landing on You. CLOY held that title for four consecutive years and is one of the outstanding Kdramas that is many people’s introduction to the addiction.
Here’s the trailer to see what it’s all about.
Lovely Runner on Viki
One of my other favorites to come out in 2024, Lovely Runner has it all as well. Fantasy, Romance, comedy, time travel, suspense, and oh the swoony moments. Another one of my favorite outstanding Kdramas.
Synopsis: “Im Sol (Kim Hye Yoon) is devastated by the sudden and tragic death of her favorite star, Ryu Sun Jae (Byun Woo Seok), a former swimmer turned K-pop idol. But in the midst of her anguish, she magically time slips back to 2008 – when Sun Jae is still only 19 years old. Delighted that she has a chance to help him avert his unhappy future fate, Sol makes it her mission to change the future… and maybe find love along the way.” (IMDB)
If you’re looking for a couple outstanding Kdramas, take my word for it, these two are it!
