Did A French Pole Vaulter Really Lose Because Of His Bulge? Okay, if you haven't heard the story of French pole vaulter Anthony Ammirati yet, you're missing out. Surely you must have seen his viral pole vault over the weekend. If not, allow us to catch you up to speed.

Anthony Ammirati's "losing" pole vault

21 year old Anthony Ammirati was competing for a spot in the pole vault final over the weekend when he failed to clear the bar. However, he DID clear the bar at this first two heights at 5.40 and 5.60 meters. Each athlete gets three attempts to clear the bar and it gets harder and harder with each jump. He failed attempting to clear the bar at 5.70 which was ultimately the reason for him not advancing to the finals. 9 other athletes did clear the bar at 5.70. In regards to the viral video, this was just one of the times he did not clear the bar and when you watch you can clearly see his knees and shins hit the bar before his crotch does. So no, we hate to be the killers of a great story but it was NOT Anthony's large package that was the reason he will not be competing for a gold medal in the pole vault final.

Does it make for a great story? Absolutely. Will we still secretly tell people that after years and years of training, a man's penis was the reason for his demise? Maybe. But ultimately this is one instance where reality is just not the best story.
