Diddy’s Lawyers Claim Gov Leaked Info To Sabotage Fair Trial

In the ongoing case against Sean "Diddy" Combs, his legal team has reportedly asked for an "evidentiary hearing," claiming that the government is working with the media to ruin his chance at a fair trial.

According to a memo reviewed by Variety, Combs' lawyers argue that the government has made several efforts to hurt his right to a fair trial. In the memo, they request that the court consider options like disqualifying witnesses or dropping all charges against him.

The lawyers mention four different examples of government misconduct, with the worst being the leak of a CNN video showing Combs allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in 2016. They argue that neither Ventura nor any third party likely shared the video because Ventura would have given more details in her sexual assault lawsuit, and a third party would have tried to sell it. They believe the government leaked the tape because of the timing.

Combs’ lawyers are asking for a hearing to determine if a government agent gave the video to CNN.

Additionally, they argue that the searches of Combs’ homes in Los Angeles and Florida were done in broad daylight to attract media attention. They claim the media was there before the crime scene tape went up, suggesting that the government tipped them off. Combs' team says the government used too much force against his children during the raids and made sure the media could see them.

In other Diddy news, Extra TV reported that Diddy’s lawyers recently filed a 31-page document asking the court to allow him out on $50 million bail. The lawyers argue that he is not a flight risk, calling him “one of the most recognizable people on earth." They note that he paid off $18 million on his $48 million Florida mansion in August, two weeks before his arrest, so it could be used as collateral.

The document states that if Diddy is released before his trial, he would be watched 24/7 by a security team, with GPS tracking and video cameras if needed. He would also be cut off from phones and the internet.

So far, two judges have denied Diddy’s release. He is currently in jail awaiting trial after pleading not guilty to charges of racketeering, conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. His next court date is October 10, when he will appear before Judge Arun Subramanian.
