GloRilla Promotes Album With ‘Glorious’ Cover On Her Hair
GloRilla is elevating the promotion for her debut album Glorious by featuring its cover in her latest hairstyle. In a carousel post shared on her Instagram on Sunday (October 13), Big Glo revealed the new look, which received plenty of praise from fans.
“Your hair is the first I ever seen tell ‘em don’t be trynna copy you,” one fan commented. “The hair is giving Leo energy!!! I love it!!!” another added, while someone else wrote, “Now that’s how you promote a album baby [fire emojis] on the hurrrrrrrrrr BIG GLOOOOOOOOOOO.”
GloRilla’s single “Whatchu Kno About Me,” featuring Sexyy Red, is the latest release from Glorious, which dropped on Friday (October 11). In the video for the track, GloRilla and Sexyy Red join Boosie Badazz, with the single borrowing elements from Boosie’s 2007 hit, “Wipe Me Down.”
While Boosie doesn’t deliver a verse, he provides some comic relief in the video, having fun alongside Big Glo and Big Sexyy as they rap their verses in a beauty salon.
In addition to Sexyy Red, the 15-track album includes features from Megan Thee Stallion, Latto, T-Pain, BossMan Dlow, Muni Long, Kirk Franklin, Fridayy, Kierra Sheard, Chandler Moore, and Maverick City Music.
GloRilla announced the album’s release last month, writing on social media: “GLORIOUS da album dropping 10/11 [fire emoji] So grateful to be sharing this with y’all and as a little treat I’m blessing y’all with HOLLON tonight at midnight,” referencing her previous single.
She also revealed the album’s cover art, sparking comparisons to Rihanna’s debut Music of the Sun. One fan I really see the vision wait… pic.twitter.com/DPeLCKVwR5
Another fan posted a side-by-side comparison of Glo’s photo with Rihanna’s LOUD album cover, joking, “I ain’t never seen Rihanna and Glo in the same room. Just sayin.”
Glorious faced competition from Rod Wave’s new album Last Lap, and GloRilla wasn’t pleased when the Florida rapper made the announcement. She commented on his Instagram post, saying: “WHY DF WOULD YOU DROP ON MY DAY I’M FINNA TWEAK OUT.”
Rod later seemed to confirm that he wouldn’t change his release date, sharing on his Instagram Stories: “La twin drop same night” alongside a photo of him and GloRilla in the studio.
GloRilla has also been receiving high praise from Beyoncé, who recently named the Memphis rapper as one of her favorite artists in an interview with GQ.
“I love and respect all of the female singer-songwriters who are out right now.… Raye, Victoria Monét, Sasha Keable, Chloe x Halle, and Reneé Rapp,” Beyoncé said, before sharing her current favorite Hip Hop and pop artists.
“I love Doechii and GloRilla, and I just heard That Mexican OT, he’s from Houston…. He goes hard!” she added. “I really like ‘Please Please Please’ by Sabrina Carpenter, and I think that Thee Sacred Souls and Chappell Roan are talented and interesting.”
