Boston Celtics Watch Party Results in Drone Injuring 2 People
A Boston Celtics watch party honoring the team’s 18th NBA championship resulted in two people being injured by a drone.
Per multiple outlets — including WBZ-TV and Boston.com — a drone hit a light pole, fell from the sky, and hit two people. This incident happened around 7:30 p.m. while the TNT American Express Road Show was taking place. One man and one woman were injured during the incident. The man was bleeding from his right hand, while the woman told a Boston police officer that she had “significant pain on her head, neck, and left shoulder area.”
A spokesperson for TNT said in a statement, “Unfortunately, there was an incident involving a drone and fans attending tonight’s event. On-site medical and safety personnel immediately attended to the situation. We are currently investigating further and wish all involved well.”
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating the drone incident, which was reportedly being operated by a media outlet.
