E. Coli Outbreak Linked To McDonald's Quarter Pounders In 10 States. If you've eaten a Quarter Pounder at McDonald's in the past week, be careful. The CDC announced on Tuesday that there have been at least 49 people sick in 10 states due to an outbreak of E. coli. They're not sure as to the actual ingredient that has been contaminated. There are a couple of specific ingredients to the Quarter Pounder that are being investigated like the slivered onions. There has been one death reported so far and that is an adult in Colorado. A child developed a kidney disease from it as well.

The first case was reported at the end of September. As to what McDonald's is doing about it, they have removed Quarter Pounders for the time being from the infected states. According to a statement from the restaurant chain: “We will continue to work with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and are committed to providing timely updates as we restore our full menu."

Be on the lookout for E.coli symptoms which include high fever, vomiting and diarrhea.
