Massachusetts Environmental Trust Hold Aquatic, Marine Habitat Fundraising Auction
The Massachusetts Environmental Trust (MET) will host an auction to raise funds benefiting MET grant funding, supporting the preservation of aquatic and marine habitats, and promoting youth environmental stewardship.
MET is launching its 2025-2026 fundraising campaign with the goal of raising $1 million for MET’s grant programs and endowment. To do that, the organization will host a series of live auctions of license plates with numbers 1 to 999.
On Thursday, Jan. 30, MET debuted its first of several auctions with 30 license plates to mark the 30th anniversary of the Right Whale license plate. Over the next two years, plates 1 to 999 will come up for auction for both the Right Whale (RW) and the Roseate Tern (RT) prefixes.
“Without dedicated citizens purchasing MET license plates and donating to the Trust, the grants that support numerous grassroots conservation efforts and organizations would cease to exist,” said MET Program Manager Kim Tilas in a news release shared with Boston 25 News.
“As a Massachusetts resident, you have the choice to select a charitable specialty plate to show your support or raise awareness for many important causes,” said Massachusetts Registrar Colleen Ogilvie in the release. “You can demonstrate your concern about pollution, wildlife, disappearing open space, and the quality of water that sustains Right Whales, Brook Trout, Striped Bass, or the Blackstone Valley by selecting one of these plate options.”
Members of the public can bid on 30 plates available for auction. To sign up to participate, purchase license plates securely, or donate to MET’s grant-making program, visit the Massachusetts Environmental Trust page on the Mass.gov website.
