All'Antico Vinaio, the renowned Florentine sandwich shop established in 1991, has opened its first location in Boston at 565 Boylston St., near Copley Square in Back Bay.
The opening marks a cultural crossover for the business and the city of Boston. All'Antico Vinaio introduces authentic Italian street-food energy to Boston's diverse food scene, which is rich in Italian influences, particularly in the North End and with local artisanal bakeries.
This expansion follows the shop's growth success in Florence and U.S. openings in New York and Los Angeles, where it has gained a following for its bold flavors and long lines.
All'Antico Vinaio is famous for its overstuffed sandwiches made with authentic Tuscan bread. These sandwiches feature various Italian meats, cheeses, spreads, and vegetables, placed between slices of their signature crusty, olive-oil-kissed flatbread.
Some examples of sandwiches on the All'Antico Vinaio menu include the La Mamma Mia with prosciutto cotto, mozzarella, truffle cream, and spicy eggplant. La Genovese features stracciatella, tomato, pesto, pistachio, and basil.
"All'Antico Vinaio offers authentic Italian street food energy, served fast and without fuss, but with the quality and passion that made it legendary abroad," wrote Mark Peikert of Time Out Boston. "Bring friends, bring patience, and bring an appetite, because when that first bite hits — warm bread, salty prosciutto, melting cheese — you'll get why people around the world queue for hours just to taste it."
All'Antico Vinaio is open Monday through Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
