Boston has been named one of the 10 coziest cities in the United States to visit this fall, according to a new report from PrivacyJournal, which evaluated more than 100 U.S. cities. The list features Jersey City, Miami, Orlando, St. Louis, Honolulu, Portland, New York City, Minneapolis, Boston and San Francisco.
“What stands out most to me is how even in the most buzzing metropolitan areas, there are plenty of opportunities for a quiet, cozy escape,” said Mauricio Preuss, CEO of PrivacyJournal. “This also got me thinking about how important it is to slow down and just enjoy life’s simple pleasures sometimes.”
In Boston, those simple pleasures are easy to find when temperatures dip. Leaf-peeping along the Emerald Necklace, a slow stroll through the Public Garden, and a bench on the Charles River Esplanade offer quiet places to warm up with a thermos. Neighborhood cafés from Beacon Hill to Jamaica Plain invite unhurried afternoons with a book, while trattorias in the North End and bakeries in the South End turn supper into a snug retreat. Families crowd the Common before ducking into museums, and waterfront walks in the Seaport feel calmer as the air turns crisp.
The ranking places Boston, MA alongside coastal and warm-weather heavyweights, underscoring that cozy travel is less about climate and more about walkability, welcoming public spaces and a strong coffeehouse culture. For travelers planning a New England fall getaway, Boston’s mix of parks, historic streets and neighborhood nooks makes the city an easy pick.
