Salem has launched its annual parking ticket amnesty program called "Peas for Fees." Parking officials will waive up to $30 in parking violation fees in exchange for two canned goods donated to local food pantries.
Donations can be dropped off at the City Collector's Office in Salem City Hall during standard hours: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. to noon.
According to a Patch of Salem report, the program runs through Dec. 23, with all collected food supporting local Salem food pantries.
