Boston Nears 20 Inches of Snow, Bitter Cold Expected Throughout Week
The region remains under a Winter Storm Warning until 8 p.m. Monday, as another 3-4 inches of snow is expected throughout the day.

hoto by Scott Eisen/Getty ImagesThe majority of the serious snow is done falling, and Boston can now begin digging out after a monster winter storm impacted more than 200 million people across the country over the weekend.
The region remains under a Winter Storm Warning until 8 p.m. Monday, as another 3-4 inches of snow is expected throughout the day.
The rest of the week paints a bleak picture if you're hoping to get the sun helping you melt away much of that snow. While there won't be much in the way of snowfall this week, an abnormally cold snap will keep things pretty well frozen.
The National Weather Service is forecasting highs in the teens and 20s all week, with lows in the single digits. Normal highs for this time period are in the mid-30s.
On the horizon, there is potential for another winter weather blast this weekend, but we'll wait before we dive into that too much.
Impacts Across the Area
Sterling brought in the highest official recorded snowfall amount, wtih 22.2 inches according to the National Weather Service. Boston clocked in with 16.7 officials so far. Boston Logan had 18.6 inches.
Boston Logan International Airport said "Due to the winter storm clean up, few airlines are operating at Logan today. Please check with your airline for more information regarding flights before coming to the airport. The airport is expected to be mostly back to normal schedule on Tuesday."
MBTA officials said that buses are experiencing "significant delays in service, and may not be able to enter some stations or service some bus stops."
The City of Boston has a snow emergency parking ban in effect currently. Cars can not be parked on major roads or main arteries. They will be towed.
All Boston municipal buildings and Boston Public Schools are closed Monday.
