A long-standing spring tradition is returning to the Boston Public Garden this weekend.

The city's beloved swan boats, which trace their origin to 1877, are returning to the garden's pond for rides beginning Saturday, April 18, according to a Patriot Ledger report. Visitors are guided past extraordinary flowers in beautifully landscaped gardens, while taking in views from various historical sites in the city, including the statue of George Washington.

Tickets and Times

Swan boat rides do not require reservations. Guests can purchase their tickets at the dock. A 10- to 15-minute ride costs $4.75 for adults, $4.25 for older adults, and $3.25 for children ages 2–15.

The 2026 season runs from April 18 through Sept. 7. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. from now through June 20, expanding to 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from June 21 through Sept. 7.

How to Get to Boston Public Garden

Swan boats operate on the pond in the Boston Public Garden near Boston Common. Visitors can reach the garden via Arlington Station on the Green Line, which is the closest public transit option. For those driving to the destination, parking is available at the meters on surrounding streets or in the Boston Common Parking Garage on Charles Street. Use 4 Charles St. in your GPS for navigation.
