Since Nantucket is set to allow topless sunbathing on its beaches, we decided to list some of America’s best nude beaches. You know, in case you want to venture out and get a little exposure on vacation this year. Now keep in mind, rules and laws around nudist beaches in the U.S. can be a little confusing. Some are considered “clothing optional” while some allow ONLY topless bathing. If in doubt, double check the laws before taking ALL of your clothes off. Here is what we found.

  • Haulover Beach Park, Florida

This is considered one of if not THE most popular nude beach in the country with more than 1.3 million people visiting each year.

  • Little Beach, Hawaii

This scenic getaway is surrounded by hillside trees and boasts pristine waters for bathing.

Little Beach - Maui's Most Famous Nude Beach!

Little Beach, Maui is yet another beach with many names. Whether you want to call it Little Beach, Little Makena Beach or Onouli Beach is completely up to you! It's a great place to hang out in the warm Maui sun, but only if you're free spirited enough to accept the fact that it's widely considered to be a clothing optional beach.

  • Baker Beach, California

What an amazing view! Nude sun bathing AND the Golden Gate bridge? Just make sure you don’t disrobe until you’re north of the sign.

  • Gunnison Beach, New Jersey

Just a 2 hour drive from Brooklyn, this is the only legal nude beach on the Jersey Shore.

  • Collins Beach, Oregon

One of the country’s few non coastal clothing optional beaches. It located in an area of farmland in a wildlife sanctuary on Sauvie Island, about 30 minutes from Portland.

A Beach That Offers Peace and Quiet on Martha's Vineyard

Moshup Beach, or Aquinnah Beach, as it is also known, is located on the west side of Martha's Vineyard. Often overlooked by tourists, this half-mile stretch of pristine coastline is remote and not as crowded as nearby beaches such as Katama Beach.

  • UFO Beach, Texas

This beach is 7 miles from the nearest town and they got their name from a futuristic “escape pod” that washed ashore here some years ago. It ended up being just a buoy.

UFO Beach on South Padre Island is a Nude Beach with (Almost) Nothing to do with Aliens

Tucked away in a very secluded part of South Padre Island in Texas is an alleged nude beach with an extraterrestrial inspired name. UFO Beach, however, has everything to do with the Texas Gulfcoast lifestyle and almost nothing to do with aliens.

  • Playalinda Beach, Florida

This is one of the only nude beaches that also allows alcohol. It’s also  a very short distance of Kennedy Space Center.

Playalinda Beach - Canaveral National Seashore

Please see the Canaveral National Seashore's website for current hours of operation. Playalinda Beach is located inside Canaveral National Seashore, one of America's national parks. It's an undeveloped beach known for its serene environment and pristine shoreline. This beach lends itself to a premier rocket launch location, but always check their website for the most up-to-date info regarding launches.
