I LOVE Martial Arts and I respect anyone that does any type of martial art. The benefits include increased confidence, self discipline, mental stamina, social skills, stress relief, it’s a full body workout and finally, self defense skills. If you’re not a martial arts person chances are all you thought they offered was self defense skills. WRONG!! But even if that was it, you should be running to a martial arts class ASAP. This world is crazy man!! Anyway, we all have favorites. And as much as I respect every martial art, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is my favorite. And I’ve done a few different styles, so I’m not just pulling that opinion out of my ass.

What's Brazilian Jiu Jitsu you ask?

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a self-defense martial art and combat sport. It's based on grappling, ground fighting (ne-waza) and submission holds.  BJJ focuses on the skill of taking an opponent to the ground, controlling one's opponent, gaining a dominant position, and using a number of techniques to force them into submission via joint locks or chokeholds. (From Wikipedia)

Anyway, here’s a random list of celebrities that you might be surprised practice "the art of folding clothes while people are still wearing them."

Joe Rogan

Ok, if you listen to his podcast this isn’t a surprise at all. Joe is a BJJ Black Belt and the most famous advocate for the art.

Ed O'Neill

That’s right! Al Bundy, Jay Pritchett, the freakin octopus in Finding Dory is a BJJ black belt who’s trained with the OG’s of the art.

Tom Hardy

He’s a bad ass on screen and off.

Jonah Hill

He’s so into BJJ that he’s said that his gi is one of the things that he can’t live without.

Usher

He’s 44 and still performing like he’s in his 20s. I’m not saying it’s because of BJJ, but I’m not saying that it’s not because of BJJ.

Mario Lopez

He’s so into BJJ that he convinced his Saved By The Bell frenemy Zach Morris (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) to get into it too. So Slater AND Zach both train BJJ!

Keanu Reeves

That’s right, John Wick baby. If him training BJJ doesn’t wanna make you try it out, idk what will….

Ashton Kutcher

How else do you think he pulled Mila Kunis??

His personality??? C’mon! I credit BJJ

Halle Berry

She started when she was training for John Wick 3 and got hooked. Be like Halle…
