Say it aint so! One of our favorite ice cream treats for the past 40 years is about to be discontinued. Yes, it’s the CHOCO TACO. Now, if you’ve never had a Choco Taco, first off shame on you. But, it’s a waffle cone shaped like a tortilla, filled with vanilla ice cream and topped with chocolate goodness and nuts. We found this out through Klondike’s official Twitter account after a user asked if the rumor they’d heard was true. Klondike responded: “Unfortunately, the Choco Taco has been discontinued in both 1ct and 4ct packs. A necessary but unfortunate part of this process is that we sometimes must discontinue products, even a beloved item like Choco Taco. We know this may be very disappointing, and hope you’ll try our other delicious frozen treats.” They went into a little more detail as to why it was being discontinued saying “Over the past 2 years, we have experienced an unprecedented spike in demand across our portfolio and have had to make very tough decisions to ensure availability of our full portfolio nationwide.” However, never fear. They did leave the door open for the delicious treat to make a comeback on ice cream trucks in the future. “We know Choco Taco is a huge fan favorite and a top seller for our out-of-home business, so this is particularly painful,” they wrote. “We’re working hard to find a way to bring Choco Taco back to ice cream trucks in the coming years.” Below are the tweets from some devastated lovers of the Choco Taco.
