So far this season, we’ve seen a wide range of people who have taken the mound at Fenway Park. This has sparked the question, who would you like to see throw out the first pitch prior to a Red Sox home game?
The most special first pitch occasion of the season was actually the first pitch on Opening Day. This was done by the late, great pitching legend Tim Wakefield’s daughter, Brianna. Although we are only about three months deep into the season, actor Patrick Dempsey, the world-champion Boston Celtics, and Noah Kahan (who plays Fenway in July) have also thrown out the celebratory first pitch.
Casting a wide net of entertaining options, it’s fair to say you don’t necessarily need to be a Massachusetts native or Boston athlete to be considered. Podcast show host Alex Cooper is on tap to throw the baseball 90 feet as part of her Big Al’s Takeover of Fenway. Cooper is from Pennsylvania and films in Los Angeles.
So, Who Would You Pick To Throw Out The First Pitch At Fenway?
Think of it this way: We’re talking about an entertainer, personality, or hero who would motivate you to make sure you are in your seat well before the game is supposed to start. This person would be a fun addition to the night of baseball ahead and perhaps enhance your experience of being there live.
In our list, we consider multiple angles. Each selection is for a particular reason such as the person is big baseball fan, has plans to be in the city, or has made their mark in the world of New England sports. Most importantly, they would be well-received by both the crowd and the teams in the dugout.
From those who rock a microphone to those who make us belly laugh, here are four people we’d love to see throw out the first pitch at an upcoming game.
