Cardi B Indicted By Grand Jury On Felony Charges Over Strip Club Brawl
Cardi B was indicted by a grand jury in Queens on Friday on multiple felony charges stemming from a New York City strip club brawl that took place last August, according to several news reports.
According to TMZ, the “Money” rapper was arrested in October and charged with two misdemeanors for allegedly ordering an attack on two strip club employees, who claimed that they were injured during the brawl at Angels Strip Club when Cardi’s crew began throwing bottles and chairs.
On Friday, June 21 Cardi was indicted on 14 charges, including felony assault, conspiracy, and harassment, reports Huffington Post.
The Bronx rapper reportedly rejected a plea deal early on, which would have allowed her to avoid time in jail if the “Bodak Yellow” rapper pleaded guilty to a single misdemeanor.
Last month, prosecutors told TMZ that they found new information regarding the case and decided to present it to the grand jury.
According to CBS News, the rapper’s attorney maintains that she didn’t harm anyone. Law enforcement said that the incident took place when Cardi and her entourage started an argument with a woman who was bartending at the strip club. Afterward, a brawl broke out where people were throwing bottles, chairs, and hookah pipes.
The rapper is scheduled to be back in court on Aug. 9, and the judge also granted a protection order for the complainants in the case. Last night, Cardi attended the ASCAP Rhythm and Soul Music Awards in Beverly Hills, California with her husband, Offset. Cardi took home an award for Songwriter of the Year, according to TMZ.
