Boston Mayor Michelle Wu Welcomes Third Child
At 2 p.m. Monday, Michelle Wu had a baby girl named Mira Wu Pewarski. The baby weighed 8 pounds, 4 ounces and was 20 inches long.
“Mom and baby are in good health, and the mayor is in touch with her senior staff,” city officials said in a statement.
Mira joins Wu’s family with husband Conor Pewarski, alongside her older brothers Blaise and Cass. Wu plans to work from home in the next few weeks while spending time with her new baby.
In a statement, Wu shared her appreciation: “Mayor Wu wishes to express her deepest gratitude to the nurses, doctors and healthcare staff who made this possible for her family and who work everyday to support so many families across the city.”
After making history in November 2021 as Boston’s first female and first person of color to become mayor, Wu has started several important new offices. Her team created the Office of Early Childhood, Office of Food Justice, and Office of Black Male Advancement.
Wu’s background stems from her Taiwanese parents. Growing up, she helped translate English for them – which sparked her interest in public service.
As mayor, she’s focused on environmental projects and improving schools. Her work has helped bring more kids’ programs to Boston’s communities.
She’ll be mayor until January 5, 2026, and wants to run again.
