Logan Airport Plans to Double Rideshare Fees by 2028

Massport will boost Logan Airport rideshare fees from $3.25 to $7.50 by 2028, making it the highest pickup and drop-off cost worldwide. The first increase kicks in during 2026, bringing rates to $5.50.

"This would make Logan have the highest pickup and drop-off fees in the world," said Josh Gold, senior director of policy and communications at Uber, to NBC 10 Boston.

These hikes apply to all pickup and drop-off spots at the Boston airport. While taxi fees will go up too, they'll remain lower than ride-hailing services.

What's behind the increase? Officials point to needed infrastructure repairs and efforts to reduce congestion. The plan still needs a final vote before going forward.

Unlike taxis, which can pull up to terminal curbs, ride-hailing cars must use designated areas. This setup aims to encourage more people to use trains and buses.

Want to get downtown? Hop on the Blue Line trains or Silver Line buses. Heading to the suburbs? Logan Express buses run to spots like Braintree and Framingham.

Rich Davey, the newly appointed CEO, wants to add TSA checkpoints at Logan Express stations, potentially making terminal screening faster.
