The Boston Pops is commemorating the 50th anniversary of the film classic "Jaws" by hosting a showing of the film accompanied by a live orchestra performing the music from its recognizable score.
The special performances and showings of "Jaws" will take place on Friday, May 9, and Saturday, May 10, at 7:30 p.m. at Symphony Hall in Boston, 301 Massachusetts Ave. Tickets for the concerts are priced between $50 and $122 and are available through the Boston Pops website.
"Now for the first time, audiences will have the chance to experience the power of a live symphony orchestra performing the entire score in sync with one of the greatest motion pictures of all time," the Boston Pops states on its website.
Directed by Steven Spielberg and scored by renowned composer John Williams, "Jaws" tells the harrowing story about the seaside community of Amity and its swimmers terrorized by a dangerous great white shark. The film is based on a 1974 novel written by Peter Benchley and was mostly filmed on Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts.
The Boston Pops notes on its website, "The town's chief of police, a young marine biologist and a grizzled shark hunter embark on a desperate quest to destroy the beast before it strikes again. Featuring an unforgettable score that evokes pure terror, 'Jaws' remains one of the most influential and gripping adventures in motion picture history."
