Red Sox Home Opener: What to Expect

The Red Sox begin their 2025 season at Fenway on April 4 at 2:10 p.m., facing St. Louis in a weekend series.

Gates open at 12:10 p.m., two hours before the first pitch cuts through the spring air. The team hopes fans will be in their seats by 1:30 p.m. to enjoy all the pre-game festivities.

The Boston Arts Academy's Treble Allstars will perform the national anthem. After their performance, three aircraft - two fighters alongside a tanker - will roar overhead.

Service members from Hanscom, led by Brigadier General James Pabis, will unfurl a giant American flag across the Green Monster. Players from both teams will line up for introductions.

This year's opener celebrates 50 years since the 1975 American League Championship team hit the field. Several players from that memorable team will join the celebrations.

The day will pay tribute to Luis Tiant, the fan-favorite pitcher known for his unique windups, who passed away last October at 83. He was a fixture in Fenway's dugout from '71 through '78.

When the eighth inning comes around, Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline" will echo through the speakers - a cherished tradition since 2002 that brings together the Fenway faithful.
