Grammy winners: WAP gets censored, Silk Sonic impresses and Beyonce makes history
Last night’s Grammy awards were hands down the best award show I’ve seen in a LONG time (Melissa, Getup Crew). In a socially distant world, the producers and behind the scenes directors did an AMAZING job of keeping things socially distant while each nominee was able to get recognized and each performer was able to do what they do best. Trevor Noah kept things moving flawlessly and even the announcement of the winners was top notch. Bravo Grammys.
As far as performances, Silk Sonic (Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak) performed for the first time in their polyester suits and velvet carpet their song “Leave the Door Open.” They also came back in the “In Memoriam” segment to pay tribute to Little Richard.
Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B joined forces for “WAP” which had many asking how the FCC and CBS would allow such a sexually suggestive performance to air. Well, it was strategically placed in a later time slot (after 10pm on the east coast).
And as for the actual winners, Beyonce made history. She had 9 nominations and by the end of the night, she had broken the record for the most Grammys won by a woman and any singer, male or female, with 28.
