Can you feel the love for The Lion King? The live-action film, starring Beyoncé and Donald Glover, is officially in theaters today, which means fans have started offering up their reviews of the remake. And since these critiques are available via Twitter, they’re short, but not always sweet.
Many loved the film, which use realistic CGI animation, for giving them that ‘90s nostalgia rush they crave. Even when it hurts.
Some early moviegoers even noted that the animation was so good, they had trouble knowing what was real and what was fake.
Others, though, had a bone to pick with some of director Jon Favreau’s choices. Like say, his decision to not set the scene for Beyoncé and Donald Glover’s big “Can You Feel The Love Tonight?” duet at night.
No surprise, most couldn’t stop talking about the power of Beyoncé, who voices adult Nala. One fan noted she “has turned from a cute animated kids movie to the centerpiece of a cultural movement.” Bow down to Queen Bey of the jungle, who dropped her The Lion King companion album, The Gift, too, today.
Will you be seeing The Lion King this weekend?
