In a letter she wrote to Disney when she was only nine, Lowri Moore said that their characters who wear glasses are usually portrayed as, "geeky or nerdy instead of beautiful.'' Now eleven years old, Lowri has written her own book called, "Princess Rose and the Golden Glasses!"

As a person who's worn glasses for most of my life, this story made me smile and is very relatable, even as an adult!

I just love everything about Lowri Moore.  Her Instagram profile says: "I’d like to think that LITTLE people can make a BIG difference."

According to the BBC, Lowri had written a letter to Disney when she was nine years old and said, in part:

"I've grown up watching Disney princesses and I've always admired them and thought they were beautiful.  Unfortunately none of the princesses wear glasses and that made me feel as though I'm not beautiful enough."

Natalie Owen, a local illustrator and Disney fan herself, heard about Lowri's letter and created the character that is featured in Lowri's book!

Here's what Lowri wrote on Instagram about her book:

"Beautiful Princess Rose doesn’t really feel beautiful whilst wearing her glasses. But she needs them - to see! Sound familiar?

My book follows this young princess as she takes a journey to discover her beautiful self.

My aim for this book is that lots of people (not just kids) will realise they ARE beautiful with their #glasseson and have a role model they can relate to in these pages. I hope it will promote good conversations around what ACTUALLY makes a person beautiful.

30% of all profit from book sales is going to charity to provide essential eye care for people who wouldn’t normally be able to afford this. Helping the world to see clearly! @clearly.world

This message might be for you or for a child in your class or family. I’d love every school library to have a copy of this book to promote diversity and help us glasses wearers to feel represented in a positive light.

Glasses are NOT for geeks, nerds, and not just for very clever people. They are for everyone, including PRINCESSES! Fact.
Please help me spread some love and break these unhelpful stereotypes."
