Phase 3 of Massachusetts’ reopening process gets underway today. This applies to all of Massachusetts except Boston, which till being Phase 3 next Monday. Gov. Baker said that Boston wanted an extra week to determine the city’s process for permitting events at outdoor spaces. Like Phase 2, Phase 3 will be divided into two steps.

So what’s open. As of today, gyms, overnight camps, casinos, movie theaters, museums, performance venues, and events spaces are open. Professional sports teams may also hold games without spectators. Phase 3 also includes weddings, but bars and dance floors are not allowed. Under the updated gatherings order, indoor gatherings are limited to 8 people per 1,000 square feet, but can’t exceed 25 people in a single enclosed indoor space. Outdoor gatherings in enclosed spaces are limited to 25% of the facility’s maximum permitted occupancy, with a maximum of 100 people in a single enclosed outdoor space.
