Retired Sgt. Victor Butler is believed to be the last surviving Tuskegee Airman in Rhode Island. If you don’t know, the Tuskegee Airman were a group of primarily African-American pilots and airmen who fought in WWII. Victor was a mechanic and is about to turn 100 years old, and wants one thing for his birthday…some cards.

If you would  be so kind, you can send him a card. Maybe make it a family project with the kids. He says he plans to keep doing puzzles and sharing his wisdom while he waits for his cards and plans to read every single one that is sent to him.

UPDATE: Since the story came out, Butler’s family says that he has received about 12,000 cards from 41 different states. They’re going through them slowly and have already opened about 1,000 cards. Some cards have pictures and others are hand-made by kids. There’s still time to send them.
