Boston Beer Company’s John Geist Wins “Best In Brew” Award
When you think of legendary breweries that call Boston their home, it’s nearly impossible to not immediately go to the Boston Beer Company (Samuel Adams). The Beer Institute apparently agrees. They held the inaugural “Best in Brew” Award gala in Washington DC this week, and John Geist from the Boston Beer Company was honored.
In a quote shared by the Beer Institute, Boston Beer Company founder Jim Koch said, “Twenty-six years ago, John Geist took over our scrappy and entrepreneurial group of salespeople and amplified those values while adding professionalism and focus. In every Tamarron survey for 14 years, the Boston Beer Company salesforce was rated as the best in the beer business. He exemplified our values every day and in every account to ‘make an effing difference.’”
In addition, the Beer Institute explained its intent in recognizing the best brewers in the business: “This accolade celebrates and salutes beer industry workers who consistently go above and beyond, demonstrating outstanding dedication and contributions to their respective companies and the beer industry.”
Joining Geist among the nominee list includes employees from top brew brands across the country. For example, Anheuser-Busch, Molson Coors, and Pabst Brewing Company were all among those on the list.
More About John Geist And Boston Beer
Geist is a 27-year veteran of the industry. He recently retired in 2024. This honor is well-timed: what better way to call it a career than being named among the best in the industry?
In addition, their iconic Samuel Adams beer brand, the Boston Beer Company, also has Truly Hard Seltzer, Twisted Tea, and Angry Orchard under their umbrella. Recently, they announced a new hard iced tea innovation called Sun Cruiser. This is a canned iced tea that is spiked with vodka.
March has turned out to be a very celebratory month for the Boston Beer Company. At the Vibe Conference early this month, their On-Premise sales team won the gold in their “Best Medium Beer Supplier” category.
March Madness: These Teams Could Screw Up Your Bracket
It’s the most wonderful time of the year: March Madness. Seriously. Who doesn’t love this time of year? It’s always so exciting to see which teams make the NCAA Tourney and how the chips fall. Upsets are fun, too. Unless it’s your team getting upset, of course. This year, there are a handful of teams that could really screw up your bracket.
NCAA Tourney Fun
The teams going to the NCAA Tournament are starting to shape up. It’s cool to see some teams that haven’t been in March Madness for years getting the nod. For one, the Oakland Golden Grizzlies are in the tournament for the first time since 2011. The Rochester, Michigan, team beat No. 4 seeded Milwaukee earlier this week to win the Horizon League championship game and get to the big dance. It’s always so great to see the underdogs succeed.
As for other teams in the NCAA Tourney, most of the teams in the Top 25 in the national polls, if not all, are guaranteed a spot in the tournament, even if they don’t do well in their respective conference tournaments. Likewise, if a team has tanked all year but wins their respective conference tournament, then they’ll advance to March Madness. For some teams that have unfortunately had terrible seasons, this is their last hope. The Michigan Wolverines come to mind. They’ve had it rough this year, but if they win the Big Ten tournament, they’ll advance. Of course, nobody is likely to get past Purdue, so that’s another story.
We know which teams are super strong this year: Purdue, Houston and Connecticut. These guys aren’t going anywhere. But, there are some less assuming teams that could bust your bracket. So, as you’re carefully crafting your March Madness bracket this year, don’t forget about these underrated teams. Let’s get into a bunch right now.
