New England states are safest for online dating
So when it comes to being safe while dating, it doesn't just narrow down to your location. There are scams, fraud, STDs, violent crime and more. The website Privacy Journal has looked into each state in the country to find out which ones are the safest and the lowest ranking state (out of New England) is Massachusetts. Massachusetts comes in at #17. Now the way they came up with the rankings is based on romance scams, identity theft, fraud, sex offenders and STDs. They post the number of crimes reported to police based on 100,000 people. In Massachusetts, the number of STDs reported per 100,000 people is 530.7. There have also been 278 identity theft scams reported and 221 instances of fraud.
But if you're in any other New England state and online dating, you're in the top 6! From 6 to 1 we have Rhode Island, Idaho, Kentucky, New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont is actually #1. The only New England state to not make the top 17 is Connecticut which came in at #24.
