South Shore Shop Sells $4M Winning Lottery Ticket

Someone who stopped at Richdale Food Shop in Hingham, Mass. hit a major jackpot with a winning lottery ticket just as 2024 came to a close.

A shopper won $4 million in the Massachusetts Lottery's $4,000,000 Bonus Money instant game. The winner can choose between getting $200,000 yearly annuity payments over twenty years or a reduced one-time lump-sum payment. Richdale Food Shop will also receive a reward for selling the winning ticket.

This isn't the first time the Hingham store has sold a big winner. WHDH reports that in 2022, Edward Garrity won a $1 million prize from the $10,000,000 Bonus Wins instant ticket game. Garrity chose to receive his prize in the form of a one-time payment, which was $650,000 before taxes.

The $4,000,000 Bonus Money scratch ticket game still has two $4 million prizes up for grabs. Players could also win one of 10 remaining million-dollar prizes. Annuity payments for the million-dollar prizes will be $50,000 every year for 20 years, with a reduced lump-sum payment also being an option.
