Taylor Swift fatigue is real. Regardless if you’re a Swiftie, a casual fan or not a fan at all, we have to admit the continuing coverage of Taylor Swift supporting her boyfriend Travis Kelce has taken over. Whether it’s on social media or the game itself, we have been exposed to Taylor Swift more than any of us asked for or expected. But the question is, what is the REAL reason people seem to have a problem with it? This is a question we posed to our listeners and it seems there is an overwhelming theme.
It seems as if, the real issue isn’t necessarily with Taylor Swift the human being. The issue seems to be with the media coverage and the NFL’s way of exploiting Taylor to make a few bucks. According to Front Office Sports: Taylor Swift has designated a “brand value” of $331.5 million for the Chiefs and the NFL, citing data from Apex Marketing Group. This is quite the jump from previous years and years that NFL viewership had shown a bit of a decline from 2021 to 2022 and beyond. So it seems there is definitely an interest in keeping Taylor in the forefront of as many games as possible, no matter how much it may annoy us.
So how do we feel about the Taylor Swift coverage here in Boston? To find out, we polled our listeners and as you can expect, the question created a rather large divide. However you feel, one thing is for sure: The Super Bowl is bound to be one of the highest rated, if not THE highest rated EVER. Let’s take a look at some of the very passionate responses to the Taylor and Travis madness.
