Lil’ Wayne Admits He Tried To Kill Himself And Why He’s Sharing The Information
Lil’ Wayne is coming clean about an incident that fans already know about, but don’t have all the facts.
According to XXL, in Lil’ Wanye’s Billboard Interview coming out on September 15, Lil’ Wayne reveals that he will be sharing his story on ‘Tha Carter V,’ and why he chose to share the information after all this time.
“Built around a sample of British singer Sampha’s “Indecision,” Weezy will reveal he tried to take his own life after his mother told him he would no longer be able to rap.”
Young Money President Mack Maine shared that he was ready to address it and given all the suicides that have happened this year that were high profile, Lil’ Wayne added the lyrics about his own situation this summer.
XXL says ‘Wayne has started to open up about the incident in the past, rapping on ‘London Roads’ from the Free Weezy Album, ‘Ms. Cita, I remember goin’ in your gun drawer/Puttin’ it to my chest and missin’ my heart by centimeters, oh Lord,’ but this is the first time he’s revealed the reason for attempting suicide.”
I think it’s very brave for Wayne to come out with this information. Not only is mental health a hard topic to address, especially if you’re in the public eye, but in the African American community, mental health is talked about even less. Hopefully, with Wayne coming forward with his issues, it will help others get help and come to terms with their own struggles.
We don’t have a release date for ‘Tha Carter V’ yet, but if he’s doing interviews, it has to be coming soon.
