WATCH: Big Sean Pays Homage To Detroit In ‘Single Again’ Video
Big Sean has dropped the visuals to his new Jhene Aiko and Ty Dolla $ign assisted single “Single Again.”
The video pays homage to Big Sean’s hometown, Detroit. The video was filmed in a Detroit beauty shop, a neighborhood on the west side of the Motor City, and Detroit’s Spirit Plaza, located in the city’s downtown, reports the Detroit Free Press.
Back in May, the six-minute video was directed by Detroit’s Lawrence Lamont. The “Overtime” rapper addresses the perils of social media in the visual.
“I know what it’s like to be in social scandals where even with no information/ evidence, just people assuming will blame you and turn on you,” the rapper wrote on Twitter.
Star‘s Ryan Destiny and actor Keith Powers (The New Edition Story) both star in the video, while Big Sean is portrayed as a celebrity facing scrutiny due to alleged romantic infidelity. The public is left to decide whether or not Big Sean is actually guilty or innocent.
Rhonda Walker, a longtime anchor of Detroit’s WDIV-TV also made a guest appearance in the video, as a news reporter who documented a boisterous crowd while the “verdict” was being decided on Sean. The Detroit rapper is also seen in the video rapping on top of one of the local news station’s vans.
“The video has a lot of important messages, but the main one is for people to ‘wake up and smell the roses’ in a world where we wake up and check our phones instead,” Sean said in a statement.
