Anthony Hopkins Pays Tribute to Chadwick Boseman
Anthony Hopkins attends "The Two Popes" premiere during AFI FEST 2019 presented by Audi at TCL Chinese Theatre on November 18, 2019 in Hollywood, California.
Anthony Hopkins wasn’t in attendance at last night’s Oscars to accept his award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in The Father.
He posted a video today on Instagram to accept his award win in his homeland of Wales. The green countryside behind him and blue sky make for a perfect backdrop.
In the video, 83-year-old Hopkins is in disbelief of receiving the award, stating a few times in the video that he just “did not expect this.” After thanking the Academy, Hopkins took a moment to “pay tribute to Chadwick Boseman. He was taken from us far too early.”
The Hannibal actor’s competition for Best Actor in a Leading Role was against Riz Ahmed in Sound of Metal, Chadwick Boseman in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, Gary Oldman in Mank, and Steven Yeun in Minari.
