Megan Thee Stallion Goes Off On 1501 Certified Ent. Over Countersuit
Megan The Stallion’s legal battle with her label 1501 Certified Entertainment continues. Megan released Something For The Hotties back in October of 2021 and now she and her label are arguing over if the project is considered a mixtape or album. The Grammy-winner is stating that the songs on the album are new material and that the project is the required runtime to be classified as an album that would fulfill her legal obligation with the label.
Detailed in her suit against 1501 Entertainment per Pitchfork, “Megan Thee Stallion claims 1501 informed her two months after its release that it did not meet the definition of an ‘Album’ under her recording agreement, and therefore did not satisfy her contract’s ‘Minimum Recording Commitment.’ She countered that the only parameter defining an album under the terms of the contract is its runtime, which must be at least 45 minutes in length; Something for Thee Hotties is 45 minutes and 2 seconds long. Megan Thee Stallion is seeking a non-monetary declaratory judgment that the record meets the definition of an album—satisfying the terms of her contract—and attorney’s fees.”
Megan took to Twitter to express her frustration after the news of the countersuit.
“First the man over my label said I don’t make him any money … now he counter suing trying to keep me on his label because he wants to make more money lol if I ain’t making you no money why not just drop me?” Meg First the man over my label said I don’t make him any money … now he counter suing trying to keep me on his label because he wants to make more money lol if I ain’t making you no money why not just drop me?
In her Twitter rant, the “Sweetest Pie” rapper said she decided to air it out online because she is “ I choose not to say nothing back abt court and address shit online but im getting tired of being painted the BAD GUY 2/47 the last girl on 1501 mad at this man too !
The Houston native began calling out names to where the CEO of 1501, Carl Crawford could go find the money that Megan allegedly owes him.
“Carl I don’t wanna be signed to yo pill popping a–! You talking abt I ain’t paid for a show and you sound slow.
