Tia Mowry Files for Divorce from Husband Cory Hardrict
Tia Mowry has filed for divorce from her husband Cory Hardrict. They were together for 14 years. Gossip site TMZ first reported on Tuesday (Oct. 4) that legal documents obtained by the outlet stated that the Sister, Sister star had filed for divorce from her husband. She cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the end.
In the documents, Mowry didn’t specify a date of separation but is asking a judge for joint physical and legal custody of their two children. She’s also asking the judge to terminate the court’s ability to give spousal support to either. She notes that the couple has a prenup, the site reports.
The couple got married back in 2008 and have two children together, an 11-year-old son named Cree and a four-year-old daughter named Cairo.
Shortly before the news broke of the couple’s divorce, the actress posted a cryptic message to her Instagram story that read: “letting go can be painful. But it won’t hurt as much holding on to an illusion.”
The actress then posted a black-and-white throwback photo of her and Corey with the caption: “I have always been honest with my fans, and today is no different,” the post began. “I wanted to share that Cory and I have decided to go our separate ways. These decisions are never easy, and not without sadness. We will maintain a friendship as we co-parent our beautiful children. I am grateful for all the happy times we had together and want to thank my friends, family and fans for your love and support as we start this new chapter moving forward in our lives.”
Cory also posted a cryptic message to his Instagram story that read: “Acting off of emotions will cost you every time.”
The actor, who stars in CW’s All American: Homecoming as Marcus Turner, has not yet addressed the split publicly.
