Okay, this sounds strange, but it's a reality. Doritos flavored liquor actually does exist. A spirit company in Denmark called Empirical is behind it. And, the kicker of all of this is, they partnered with PepsiCo, so it's an "official" Doritos liquor.  Now, why would anyone come up with such a thing and who would have ever thought we needed a Doritos flavored liquor? Regardless, you know you want to try it right?

It's being described as a cheese flavored vodka and it's 84 proof which means it's 42% alcohol. That's a LOT. It's also infused with actual Doritos and people who've tried it say it actually tastes exactly like the chip.  A writer for "Food & Wine" says , the liquor is actually "brimming with the unmistakable tang of cheese dust."  Although they did say it had an after taste that was more like  Fritos than Doritos. You can learn more about the origin story of the Doritos flavored liquor by watching the Youtube video below. It is the brain child of a former chef named Lars Williams, who co-founded Empirical.

So how can you get your hands on a bottle of this liquor? Pre orders actually start today and they are going for $65 for a fifth. You can start your pre order at 9am this morning (December 13). According to the official Empirical website: "We break away from conventional spirit categories. We are driven by curiosity and the pursuit of new flavor experiences."  The question is, is this something you would try? Would you serve this liquor at a holiday party? We'd love to hear from you. If you do end up buying this, let us know how it tastes. And maybe, just maybe, they'll come out with Cool Ranch flavored liquor next. Sounds like a plan!
