Pizza lovers, get in line. And pray this Massachusetts pizza place doesn't run out of pizza by the time you get there! People love this Boston pizza so much, they often sell out of it.
According to Only In Massachusetts, Galleria Umberto's Rosticceria in the North End can barely keep up with the demand for their pizza. This renowned restaurant on Hanover Street is famous for their Sicilian pizza. And yeah, you'll often see a line outside. And you know, that's often a sign of a really good place. If you're willing to wait, it's got to be good. Just ask anyone who's been, and they'll tell you this pizza is worth the wait.
Slices are the most popular menu item, but Umberto's also serves up calzones and arancini. Legendary thick pieces of savory goodness have been the talk of the town here, since 1974. Because Galleria Umberto's reputation precedes them, people come from all over to taste the goodness. That can create a problem, in that the restaurant will run out of pizza on a somewhat regular basis. Not to worry, you can always come back and try, try again!
If you are searching the internet for Umberto's, you'll find there is no website. They don't need it. They do, however, have a Facebook page. And type their name in any social media platform and you'll find rave reviews everywhere!

Boston is very well known for its pizza. I'd put Boston up against any major city in the country in regards to pizza. When I think of pizza cities, I think of amount of pizza places, best bang for your buck, the type of pizza available and obviously the best tasting pizza.
The website www.anytimeestimate.com has put together a list of the Best Pizza Cities in America.
Now what do they base it on? According to the site, "we analyzed publicly available U.S. business data, Census data, economic and labor statistics, and Google Trends data, as well as findings from Thrillist, Pizza Today, Expensivity, and Menu With Price."
They come up with this list every year so this data is new for 2022. This is how the criteria is weighed:
You may be surprised as to where Boston falls on this list. Or then again maybe you won't. They made the top five which I believe is a great score. Although according to Anytime Estimate, they gave extra points to cities with large amounts of independent pizza places which Boston definitely has.
They also gave penalties to cities that have large amounts of pizza chains. Believe it or not, New York City did NOT make the top 15, purely because of its low share of independent pizzerias. Detroit ranks first for "pizza passion" and has the most independent pizza places per capita.
Let's take a look at the rest of the top pizza cities in America.
