Kanye Sued For Allegedly Punching Autograph Dealer In 2022
Kanye West is being sued for assault and battery for allegedly punching a “fan” who wanted an autograph back in 2022. In court documents obtained by TMZ, West allegedly repeatedly punched Justin Poplawski, an autograph dealer, after he asked the rapper for his signature. The alleged incident occurred in 2022 in downtown Los Angeles.
West allegedly shouted: “I’m going to make a f—– example of you,” when his break up with ex Kim Kardashian was brought up, which allegedly resulted in the Grammy-winner hitting him.
Poplawski asked for West to apologize which is when Ye allegedly responded, “Apologize for what?” West allegedly continued to hit him and was then asked by a person with Poplawski to stop.
Ye allegedly responded to the person: “Go to the f—– house and get my f—— kids.”
The legal documents claim that Poplawski was “severely injured” but were not specific to the exact injuries.
His wife is also suing for a loss of consortium–meaning the benefits a spouse is entitled to receive from their partner including companionship, cooperation, affection, aid, financial support, and sexual relations, according to Cornell Law.
During his interview with Jason Lee from Hollywood Unlocked, he admitted to punching the autograph dealer. Ye was leaving the studio at SoHo House and he said that Poplawski had a “real attitude” and that an unidentified man had been coming around trying to get a rise out of the rapper.
“This is the same as the paparazzi, this is not a fan. This is someone who is using your image, who probably never listened to your songs,” Ye said to Lee.
