Have You Tried These Great Maine Sports Bars?
Let’s admit, for sports fans across the country, it’s hard to focus on anything right now other than plans for March Madness. We are entering the season that basketball enthusiasts call the most wonderful time of the year. In that spirit, BetUs put together a list of the best sports bars across the country, and their New England choices were surprising. In fact, you’ll have to travel well outside of Boston to hit the spot.
There’s a thrill to the adventure of getting to your local sports bar in time for the big games. Perhaps you make an effort to get out of work early, where every minute is crucial to get through those pub doors before the game begins. There’s an enthusiasm and camaraderie where you get to indulge in a ton of hoops for a few weeks and then know that spring and MLB baseball await once it’s over.
There are some necessary components that make a great sports bar. The obvious thing is the amount of TV’s in clear sight. Then, cold beers on tap and comfort food cooking on the grills add to the memorable experience.
BetUs describes the feeling as ” the kind of magic that happens when you combine your favorite games with a spot at your local sports bar.”
The Best New England Sports Bar(s) Are In Maine
Great skiing, great lobster, and great sports bars. Maine had two places named in BetUs’s top 20 sports bars in the country. Here they are.
The Depot Pub in Gardiner ranked #12. They offered $4 Guinness cans during St. Patrick’s Day and now they will turn their attention to college basketball specialties. The Depot Pub is located at 14 Maine Ave.
Then, ranking #18 was Gippers Sports Bar in Auburn, Maine. Gipper’s is well known for the classic menu items they serve up during the big game. For example, the kielbasa with baked mac and cheese and ciabatta bread is a fan favorite. The same holds true for what they call their “famous Chicken Finger dinner, which has six sauces to choose from.”
Gippers is located at 120 Center Street in Auburn. In fact, these two establishments are only 30 minutes from each other.
If you are wondering about Boston, BetUs also named the best sports bar in each state. Boston fell short here as well. In Massachusetts, they say the Lazy Dog Sports Bar in Lynn is the best.
