Looking for a twist on the usual summer movie screenings? NewportFilm Outdoors could be just what you're looking for. The series features weekly documentary screenings during the summer that also feature food, music, discussions, and more. All taking place with the beautiful city of Newport as the backdrop.

About NewportFilm Outdoors

NewportFilm Outdoors is part of the NewportFilm program that, "inspires, educates, and entertains by presenting current and impactful documentaries that build community and propel change." In addition to the outdoor film program, NewportFilm also has other programs. They have the Cinematography Lab which provides "creative support and mentorship to emerging documentary cinematographers." They also work in partnership with City of Newport public schools, University of Rhode Island’s Graduate School of Oceanography, and other educational schools and programs.

NewportFilm Outdoors Summer Schedule

The films are free, but they do accept suggested donations. The first film in the series is Who is Stan Smith? It's Thursday, July 18 at Aquidneck Park - 300 Spring St, Newport RI

There will be a pre-film conversation with Stan Smith and Patrick McEnroe, President of the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Here's the complete schedule of the night.

6:00 PM :Venue Opens
7:30 PM:Live Music by Liz Kantor of Hush Club
8:15 PM:Pre-film conversation with Stan Smith and Patrick McEnroe (President, International Tennis Hall of Fame)
8:30 PM:Film Begins
Rain Venue :Rain Venue: Boys and Girls Club of Newport County (95 Church St, Newport, RI) Please note that rain venues are more limited in capacity than our outdoor venues and seating at our indoor rain venues is first come first served and we recommend arriving at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the film.
