NYC’s Award-Winning PopUp Bagels Opens Boston Shop
PopUp Bagels just opened its first Massachusetts location in Boston’s busy Pier 4 area. The 770-square-foot shop started serving customers on January 10, 2025.
Fresh after winning two Brooklyn BagelFest titles, this New York hit brings its expertise to New England. “PopUp Bagels brings something completely new to Boston,” said Brian Harrington, owner of the new Seaport location in a press release. “These bagels are about more than just great taste — they’re a whole new way to enjoy a classic.”
From morning rush through lunch, the shop operates daily 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Five basic flavors make up the menu: everything, sesame, salt, plain, and poppy seed. Spread choices include regular cream cheese, fresh scallion, sweet caramelized onion, and creamy salted butter.
Boston gets something special – the popular Grillo’s Pickles Pickle de Gallo schmear. Following tradition, each bagel comes whole, right from the oven to your hands.
It all began with Adam Goldberg in his kitchen during lockdown. His bagels took off in NYC, with The New York Times calling them some of the city’s best.
Each order includes whole bagels and separate schmear containers – enough spread for three bagels. Keep an eye out for changing seasonal schmear specials that mix things up.
Speed is key here. Pick up your bagels at the counter, order ahead online, or arrange catering for larger groups.
After doing well in New York and Connecticut, Boston marks a new chapter. “This is a city with such a rich food culture and a strong sense of community, and we’re thrilled to bring something new to the table,” Goldberg said.
