TGI Fridays Closes Braintree Location, Only 5 Remain in Massachusetts
The TGI Fridays at 60 Forbes Road in Braintree, across from the South Shore Plaza, shuttered its doors on Monday, Jan. 6, an employee confirmed with The Patriot Ledger. This closure leaves only five locations in Massachusetts of the once-popular fast-casual restaurant chain, which announced in January 2024 that it would shut 36 of its 270 locations as part of an evolving growth strategy.
Shortly after this January 2024 announcement, TGI Fridays locations in Danvers, Dedham, Mansfield, Marlboro, North Attleboro, and Seekonk closed, followed by others in a dozen states. A North Dartmouth location closed in the fall of 2024.
TGI Friday’s parent company, TriArtisan Capital Advisors, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in November 2024. That announcement prompted another round of closures, which shuttered 50 more locations, none of which were in Massachusetts.
As of Thursday, Jan. 9, only 163 TGI Fridays remain operational in the United States. In Massachusetts, only five locations are open:
- Boston: 1626 Tremont St.
- Everett: 33 Mystic View Road
- Methuen: 90 Pleasant Valley St.
- Millbury: 70 Worcester-Providence Turnpike
- Stoughton: 2 Hawes Way
TriArtisan Capital Advisors has not confirmed whether these remaining locations will stay open through 2025.
