South Coast Rail Tickets Are Now On Sale. Weekday Fares Remain Free Through End of March
Tickets are now on sale for the South Coast Rail, and users of the new commuter rail service will enjoy an added benefit through the end of March.
Rail passenger service for the Fall River/New Bedford Line has been confirmed to launch on Monday, March 24. Schedules have been posted online.
In a Thursday, March 20, Herald News report, the MBTA and the Healey-Driscoll Administration announced that South Coast Rail weekday fares will remain free through the end of March and fare-free weekend service will continue through April.
When the South Coast Rail line opens to the public on Monday, it will be the first time in 65 years that the region has had passenger rail service.
What You Need to Know About the South Coast Rail Service
Fare-free weekday service will be available for passengers on the Fall River and New Bedford lines every day from March 24 through 31. Fare-free service on weekends, Saturday and Sunday, will be available between March 29 and April 27, in addition to Patriots Day, Monday, April 21.
Passengers can ride for free if they board or end their ride at one of the six South Coast Rail stations.
