Guy Fieri’s Boston Restaurant Closes Down, Second Local Shutdown in Six Months
After just three years, Guy Fieri’s Boston Kitchen + Bar shut down at 186 Tremont Street. This is the second time in six months that one of the celebrity chef’s local restaurants has closed its doors.
The company removed the restaurant’s webpage from their website. Since 2021, the restaurant had taken over the space in the Grand Lodge of Masons building where Explorateur used to operate.
With the closing of his Tequila Cocina at the Hub on Causeway last fall, Fieri doesn’t have any Boston locations left. Members of the Friends of Boston’s Hidden Restaurants Facebook group were the first to notice the restaurant had closed.
Operating from late 2021 until early this year, the Tremont Street restaurant served up popular dishes. Diners loved specialties like the “trash can nachos” and massive burgers filled with bacon mac and cheese.
Located in Boston’s busy theater district, the restaurant added excitement to local dining choices. When it opened in 2021, it was part of many new restaurants helping revive downtown after COVID-19.
Reviews were mixed throughout its time open. While many liked the central location, people often complained about uneven food quality and slow service.
While his Boston ventures didn’t last, Fieri continues to run restaurants nationwide. His restaurant collection ranges from cruise ships to city locations, with openings and closures common in his business strategy.
As another restaurant closes, Boston’s downtown food scene keeps evolving. There’s no news yet about what will replace the empty space, as changes continue throughout the area’s restaurant landscape.
