A new ranking from Niche released on Monday, March 24, listed four Massachusetts communities among the Best Places to Live in America in 2025.
The following towns ranked among the top 100 in the list:
- Brookline at No. 14
- Cambridge at No. 77
- Cambridgeport at No. 22
- Riverside at No. 56
Brookline, which holds the highest spot on the list in Massachusetts, is home to the famed Coolidge Corner Theatre.
Cambridgeport, Cambridge, and Riverside are all neighborhoods in the Cambridge area on the north side of the Charles River. Cambridge is most known for its connection to Harvard University and its vibrant town squares, including Central, Harvard, and Porter.
According to Niche, rankings are based on several public data sources, including the U.S. Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and millions of resident reviews.
Niche said it analyzed thousands of communities to create this year’s rankings. Community characteristics considered in developing the list included the health of the local housing market, neighborhood diversity, area public schools, and walkability.
Now in its 11th year, the Niche rankings help people from all walks of life decide where to live. The report evaluates places of various sizes, including cities with populations of 100,000 or more, suburbs, and neighborhoods.
