Wicked Holiday Guide

Ah the nostalgia of Christmases gone by, what was under the tree in your childhood? Did you get any of the top toys of Christmas in 1992?

From the bulky JCPenney wish book, to the Sears catalog, let’s see if you remember some of the top toys from Christmas 1992.

Now this list below is in no particular order, the only criteria is that the toy was one of the most popular during the year 1992.

Check back each weekday as we unleash the top toys of each year of the decade.

  • X-Men Action Figures

The X-Men animated series was an afternoon cartoon staple (that you couldn’t watch until you finished your homework, at least in my house.) Dr. Xavier had a whole crew of characters, and for Christmas 1992, there were plenty of them under trees across America.

  • Hot Wheels Streex Test Trax

Yes, they were Hot “Wheels” but these levitating cars of the future were all the rage on the kitchen floor. Hell, even the “TRON” style animation at the beginning of the ad feels futuristic… for 1992.

  • California Roller Baby

Ripping off the Beach Boys for its theme song, the California Roller Baby basically needed a smooth floor and no sudden movements to remain upright. Seriously, I can’t count the number of times my sister took this thing rollerblading with her in the driveway, only to come back crying because it kept falling down.

  • The Grape Escape Game

We had a bit of a masochistic streak, didn’t we, fellow 90s kids? Make game pieces out of clay and then destroy them in several interesting ways that bordered on medieval torture on game boards across America.

  • Creepy Crawlers

With these creature labs, I always wondered what happens when you ran out of the “goo,” I guess you could get more goo, but say today, where would you get additional goo? Creepy Crawlers was all the rage in 1992, but if you want to make them today, you’re probably out of luck.

  • Barbie Golden Dream Motorhome

Barbie was going glamping before glamping was a thing. The Barbie Golden Dream Motorhome was all the rage in the early 90s, and may or may not have been used as a GI Joe urban assault vehicle once or twice, until mom got pissed and told us to give it back to our sister.
